6 Fun Things to Do in Denver in The Summer

One of the many great things about living in The Meadows is that we are relatively close to just about anything in Denver —without living in Denver. Denver is perfect if you need a “big city fix” and want to get out of Castle Rock for a day. There is a ton of things to do in Denver in the summer but we narrowed our list to just 6 fun things to do:

1.Red Rocks Amphitheater

Our list of 6 fun things to do in Denver in the summer wouldn’t be complete without mentioning Red Rocks Amphitheater —only the greatest place ever to see a concert. The world famous amphitheater plays hosts to hundreds of concerts, movies, and many other events. You can even visit Red Rocks on the weekend for a good workout.

2.Mt. Evans Scenic Byway

Another fun thing to do in Denver in the summer is hiking but if you are not up for hiking one of the 54 fourteeners in Colorado, but want to have the experience of being at 14,000 plus ft. above sea level The Mt. Evans Scenic Byway is a great solution. The highest paved roadway in North America offers breathtaking views of the front range and the view will have you in awe of the beauty. Watch for wildlife along your 49-mile drive up, bighorn sheep, marmots, and pikas make regular appearances along the route.

3.The Children’s Museum of Denver

My kids love The Children’s Museum of Denver, we often make our way north on I-25 so the kids can enjoy a day of fun. Perfect for a rainy day, the museum allows your children to run around and let their imaginations run wild. They can play dress up, explore science and a whole lot more.

4. Bikealope Tours

Something I have not done is taken a tour of downtown Denver. I live here; I never have the need to explore. However, this sounds like it’d be a fun thing to do in Denver in the summer, educational afternoon. The Bikealope will take you in and around Denver. Some of the sites include Sports Authority Field, the State Capitol, Denver Art Museum and the U.S. Mint. You’ll cruise through some of the coolest old neighborhoods in Denver. Don’t worry about your gear, it’s all provided.

5. Wings over the Rockies Air and Space Museum

If your kids are into cool planes, fighter jets, space and more then visiting the Wings Over The Rockies Air and Space Museum should be on you lost of fun things to do in Denver. it is worth the quick trip north to the Wings over the Rockies Air and Space Museum. Located on the grounds of the former Lowry Air Force Base, this museum is a cool educational trip for the whole family.

6. Sports Authority Field at Mile High Tour

Another fun thing to do in Denver in the summer is to book a Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium Tour. This is a behind the scenes look at the infamous stadium where the Colorado’s beloved Broncos play. Tours will take you to the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame, the visiting team locker room, Thunder’s stall, and you’ll even get a view of the field from the end zone. Each tour last 75-90 minutes, however, will leave lasting memories for kids of all ages.
