5 Steps to Plan Your 2026 Home Improvement Project

Remodel Plans

When do you plan for your summer project? Whether you want to xeriscape, add outdoor living space, or paint your home, winter is a great time to start the process. This gives you more time to enjoy your improvements. If you’re considering a project, here are the steps to help you prepare.

Find Inspiration

Once you decide on your project, search for inspiration online. Visit sites like Pinterest or Houzz, or drive around the neighborhood to for inspiration.

Create Goals. Why are You Doing This Project?

Start any project by setting a clear goal. Think about your vision for your home and ask yourself why you want to do this project. Are you aiming to improve curb appeal, add functionality, increase your home’s value, or something else?

Set Your Budget. Plan for The Unexpected Expenses.

Determine your budget early, so you know what to expect and can plan ahead. Remember to set aside extra for unexpected costs, such as additional materials, delays, or any surprises during the project.

Research Contractors & Get Bids

Research contractors by reading reviews and asking friends or family for recommendations. Ask about warranties and insurance, and verify that the bids provided fit your budget. Finding the right contractor early will help finish the project earlier. You’ll be scheduled before their busy season starts.

Get Your Project Approved By The HOA

The Meadows Neighborhood Company HOA has specific guidelines for some home changes. Check the ARC guidelines to see if your project requires approval. Before starting your project, ensure it is approved by the Architectural Review Committee (ARC).

Now is a great time to start planning your spring and summer projects. If you have any questions, you can call the Community Standards Specialist at 720-476-4007 or email arc@meadowslink.com for assistance with any step in the process.
