The Grange Creates a Community Culture in The Meadows Cultural Arts Center Offers Gathering Place for Residents

CASTLE ROCK, COLO. — Just what defines a community? At The Meadows, it is The Grange Cultural Arts Center—a place that provides residents of all ages a connection to the arts, learning experiences and just plain camaraderie—the essence of community.

The Grange, a cultural arts and community center that opened in 2004, is not only a hub for The Meadows’ community and events, but it’s also a facility that encourages learning through arts, children’s extracurricular education, dance, music and more. For example, children can learn about the world’s geography when they step inside The Children’s Museum of Denver’s Earth Balloon, or local writers can tackle their writer’s block with the Douglas County Writers, which meets monthly at The Grange.

A key element in an overall community master plan that considers aesthetics as well as purpose, The Grange serves as a welcoming, multiuse gathering place for residents. The spacious interior of the main building can be used for such activities as art exhibits, the performing arts, a meeting place for residents or for weddings. Outdoors is a 25-yard lap pool, along with a family-oriented, zero-entry play pool, a water slide and a separate structure that houses changing rooms and a snack and beverage area. The pools are open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.

A symbol of rural life, grange buildings historically were created as social and educational meeting places for farmers and their families in the late 1800s. Today’s Grange in The Meadows reflects these origins by providing a variety of opportunities for residents. Adjacent to Paintbrush Park, and near Native Legend Open Space, The Grange and its distinctive architecture reflect the area’s ranching heritage.
